Some key features of bathroom designing:

Minimum Area of Bathroom:- For Plot area upto 50S q.M minimum sizes are: Bathroom 1×1.20 M with height of 2.20 M. Water Closet 1.2×0.9 M with 2.20 M. Combined(Bathroom attached with WC) 1.5×1.2 M with height of 2.20 M. These are very minimum sizes. sizes will vary as per site conditions.

Spaces in Bathroom:- Bathroom is segregated by 2 kind of spaces wet area and dry area. Wet area is shower area and Dry area is WC and Wash Basin area that are most frequently used areas. Planning of bathroom totally depends on these dry and wet zones. Shower area should be covered with glass door or it should lie in rearwards. Entering first into Dry zone then into Wet zone to maintain hygiene and safety from skidding. The choice of material in bathrooms are non skid materials (non skid tiles). Tiles should be laid either upto the height of shower (1.8M) or upto ceiling to avoid Damping and maintaining waterproofing and hygiene.

There are 4 types of systems One pipe, Two pipe, Stack system and One pipe system Stacked vertically. Here i will discuss Two pipe system as it differentiate Soil pipe and Waste Pipe. WC and Urinals are connected to Soil pipe and Wash basin and Shower connected to Waste pipe. Soil pipe is further connected to the main manhole whereas Waste pipe is first connected to Gully trap then transferred to manhole.
